WebThe Euphrates jerboa (Allactaga euphratica) is a rodent of the family Dipodidae and genus Allactaga. They are characteristically known as hopping rodents. They have been found in Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Syria, and also occurs very marginally in south-eastern Turkey. WebAllactaga euphratica (Figure 2) is distributed in steppes and semi-deserts from central Anatolia east to the Caspian Sea and northern Saudi Arabia. It occurred on Chios during the Late Pleistocene but is absent, however, from the present fauna of western Anatolia. The wood mouse Apodemus hermonensis is known from western Anatolia to Israel.
