The crash was the deadliest and first major aviation accident involving a McDonnell Douglas MD-80.[1] Adria Airways d.o.o. (formerly Inex-Adria Aviopromet and later Inex-Adria Airways) was the flag carrier of Slovenia, operating scheduled and charter services to European destinations.
